Her work seeks to dissolve the boundaries between
still-life and altar,
environment and self,
mundane and sacred,
everyday and sublime.
Her work is formed in intuitive pathways with routes and destinations that surprise the artist herself. Melanie investigates her subjects using devotional painting practices and playful, collaborative performance. Currently, she is engaging the genre of "magical realism" to research the lines between fake news and fantasy in a conceptual, other-worldly magazine.
